With Michelin starred Chef Tom Aikens at the helm and a talented team on the ground, Oak Room cements its place firmly in the top 3 steakhouses in Abu Dhabi. The menu is eclectic, offering something to please even the fussiest of diners, perfect for those women whose husbands don't like steak! But it really is the steak that elevates it from good to rock star. The menu offers grades 8 and 9 quality steak and it's hard to choose between the Shanchoku wagyu ribeye and the especially amazing Stone Axe full blood wagyu ribeye but equally, the USDA prime tenderloin is well-priced and superb - get it with the blue cheese sauce! If the whole table is into it, there's a great beef tasting menu that will take you from a beautiful beef carpaccio, through short ribs and tenderloin and onto a strong-finish Eton mess. We think it will take you a few visits before you can truly say you know what your favourite is ... and that is definitely no hardship!

PARK HYATT ABU DHABI
Maté opened with a flourish a few months ago and has since proven itself to be the most interactive, most exciting steak restaurant in Abu Dhabi. The Argentinian-with-a-hint-of-Lebanese steakhouse has cool, moody vibes and although steak is a serious business, it doesn't take itself too seriously. Sit up at the bar and watch the chefs work or enjoy the ambiance and have some great drinks prepared by the very talented Valentino. If you'd like a taster, head there on a Wednesday for the La Barra menu - amazing food and an incredible bargain too!

Ray's Grill has it all views for miles, cosy couples corners, impress-your-guests vibes and above all, some of the best steak in Abu Dhabi.
We loved our 225g, USDA approved tenderloin, cooked to perfection with a cheeky piece of foie gras gracing the top and the superbly cooked short rib, full of flavour and juicy. We teamed these with creamed spinach and the most delectable steak fries and finished with a very good cheesecake from the dessert trolley.

Chicago-esque steakhouse Butcher & Still is nothing short of iconic. This is the place to bring your visitors to town, the place to treat your colleagues or even enjoy date night. With its 1920s prohibition era interior, you could be forgiven for waiting for an entrance from Al Capone - take special note of the 'wallpaper' in the bathrooms! The menu sticks to the theme of the era with such gloriousness as the 21 day dry-aged tomahawk chop - an absolute beast of a cut and perfect for the true meat-lover. Make sure you order the thick cut, twice baked, most amazing fries and an exceptional cherry pie or share the Tribune Tower cake, all 34 layers of it!

The fact that 49ers serves some of the best steak in Abu Dhabi may come as a surprise to some, given that the bar side of the venue has a strong party vibe, but this really is a case of 'if you know, you know'! A discussion about steak wouldn't be complete without mentioning Entrecote Cafe de Paris. The concept is very simple: 200 grams of Entrecôte steak with “Café de Paris” sauce and homemade French fries. Many have tried to replicate this sauce over the years and none have quite succeeded - it's glorious and definitely one of the best steak experiences you'll have in Abu Dhabi. You can choose your steak: New Zealand Entrecote can be found both the in the Souq at Qaryat al Beri, where you can enjoy your steak with a glass of red wine or a beer, and in Yas Mall.
