If soft-serve is your jam, Yazi Cafe sports two different flavours, both delicious. The mango comes with chunks of soft, squidgy mango, making this a semi-healthy sweet treat. But it was the salted caramel, textured-up with crumbed lotus biscuits and a drippy caramel topping that really stole our hearts. Get it to dine in or take away, both options will see you right for a summer's day treat.

KULFI AT KULFILICIOUS

If you've never tried Indian kulfi, make it a plan this summer. The kulfi fellas at Kulfilicious do an amazing job of bringing this ice-cream to you. Choose bowls of kulfi, long kulfi ice-pop sticks or a long, tall glass of very refreshing falooda. These are all priced so well, you can make this your regular ice-cream haunt throughout the summer.

Just in case you needed another reason to visit Antonia, the house-made gelato is it! Flavours change from time to time but at the moment we get to enjoy vanilla, rich with vanilla beans and gianduja, a hazelnut dream. Watch them swirling away in the gelato machine before having them scooped into your cup, ready for you to dine in or take away for a stroll down the Mamsha promenade.

CHIMNEY CREAMS AT CHIMNEY'S ROLL HOUSE

Picture it: a chimney cake, made from the best pastry, rolled in sprinkles or pistachio, and filled with the best vanilla soft-serve. This is truly dessert decadence and feels like something we need in our lives every day this summer. There are more than 6 chimney creams to choose from. We love the pistano, a pistachio cone with digestive biscuit crumbs and a sweet pistachio drizzle, the pretzela topped with a chocolate sauce and a cheeky pretzel or the apple granola that comes in a cinnamon cone with chunks of apple pie to make it double delicious. Completely irresistible!

If it's chocolate you crave, slide into a soft-serve at Godiva. We know they make incredible chocolates and it makes sense that the ice-cream is equally delicious. We love the chocolate/vanilla combo; the smooth soft-serve and the great quality cone it's served in make for a delicious frozen treat, for lunch and dessert! The serving is generous, so no problem about the calories - you won't need to eat again for the rest of the day!

ACAI AT DRVN COFFEE

Acai bowls are not all made equal but the offering from DRVN may just be the best acai bowl in Abu Dhabi. It must come correctly iced: too frozen and you're left with acai soup at the end, not frozen enough, the soup comes more quickly - there was no soup at all in this bowl! At AED64, it's not the cheapest bowl in town but, unlike many other places, you don't pay extra for toppings. And it's large, so much so that we couldn't finish it. The toppings were fresh (who doesn't love a plump raspberry?! - but it was the suitably nutty granola that separated it out from its competitors. In short, we'll head for DRVN again by choice, for our acai fix.

Ice-creams and the seaside go together like Blake and Ryan! Head down to Yas Bay for a stroll by the water and grab yourself a Pop City ice-pop to really get in the summer mood. We love the healthy fruity ones and the fivesicle, but don't go past the cheesecake Oreo popsicle - still refreshing, but so creamy and divine. There are loads of vegan-friendly options too, making it a great frozen treat option for the whole squad this summer.

MOCHI AT CAFE SUSHI

There are loads of places serving good mochi in Abu Dhabi but we've found the mochi at Cafe Sushi to be among the best. These soft rice cakes, made with pounded and shaped rice, encase some of the most amazing ice-cream in town. What makes them so good? It could be the magical flavours: green tea, salted caramel or our favourites, the tiramisu white chocolate and the baked cheesecake, or the beautiful presentation. Whatever it is, the combination is winning and it's our go-to for a great frozen dessert.

There's nothing more decadent than an ice-cream sandwich and Vasa Vasa brings it to you with a flourish. Wrapped in a big fat brioche bun, the Sicilian gelato tastes wonderful. Add a bit of fresh fruit and a bit of squeezy cream on the side and that's dinner sorted! No it's not healthy but it's summer and we need our fix!
