What’s more of a signature - COYA’s Peruvian fusion cuisine and tastes of Latin America, or the great vibes when the restaurant and bar turn the party up a notch? We’d argue both - from the minute you step through the carved wooden door and make your way down plush red velvet stairs, it feels like you’re taking a mini break from Abu Dhabi. Sectioned into different spaces - the funky bar, sun-bathed tables lining the huge windows, separate spaces for private dining - the interiors are fun and opulent without being over the top, and touches like Peruvian feather-topped masks decorating the DJ booth take you on an adventure.

What's On The Menu
Peruvian cuisine is the star of the show at COYA, both typical and modern: from ceviche to anticuchos (Peruvian skewers), plenty of gorgeously prepared meats - king crab to Wagyu, chicken to sea bream - and vegetarian dishes that do some heavy lifting, you’re in for a treat. Even the ‘simple’ things, like fresh guacamole and empanadas pack a flavourful punch.
COYA’S Business Lunch
One of the best ways to enjoy a taster of COYA’s menu? Their business lunch, easily one of the best in Abu Dhabi. Available Monday to Friday from 12PM - 4PM, it’s just AED140 - great value once you see what that gets you: there really is a lot of bang for your buck! So what’s included? A soup and side dish - usually a salad - will get you started, before the hard part begins. Choose two aperitivos (starters), a plato fuerte (main) and postres (dessert) from the menu - and there’s plenty to choose from, it’s not one of those business lunches with two starters and two mains.

APERITIVOS
Peruse the likes of yuzu sea bream ceviche, Wagyu beef tacos and king crab toast for your two starters, or choose from any of the four vegetarian choices - like burrata tacos or grilled aubergine skewers. There’s a reason your veggie mates might want to keep coming back to COYA. The gilled tiger prawns have a lovely flavour, made even better with a squeeze of grilled lime, and the bite-sized chicken bao are small but delicious.

PLATO FUERTE
Salmon fillet, grilled baby chicken, grilled sea bream and mushroom casuela will make your main a tough choice - all with quintessential Peruvian and Latin flavours like chimichurri and aji amarillo to complement each dish. New to the lunch menu, the Angus beef orzotto - a marriage of Angus sirloin cooked to your liking, thyme, smoked butter and sundried tomatoes - is a delight, and a great balance of protein and carby orzotto. The smoked butter really shone, and every last scrap disappeared from the plate with little effort.

POSTRES
It’s a battle of epic proportions come dessert time: chocolate trifle versus millefeuille. Ideally, you’ll be with a friend who likes to share, but if not don’t worry - there are no bad choices. Whether you’re in a chocolate and coffee or vanilla and berries mood, both are prettily plated and hit that sweet post-lunch spot perfectly. COYA’s business lunch is one we can - and do - return to regularly. For the variety, quality and price, it’s a lunch that’s hard to beat.

COYA’s Pisco Bar
COYA’s bar menu is quite the treat - not only are the drinks all quite creative, many of them are built from a pisco base. Pisco - a clear, high-proof grape brandy - is the national drink of Peru and Chile, so very much on brand for COYA. Work your way through the Pisco Bar menu for some delightful concoctions - and even more delightful presentation, ranging from a cocktail served in a rainbow coloured llama to one in a Peruvian-style pyramid, and others with smoke and light special effects. Plenty of wow-factor and a good bit of fun, it makes for a great special occasion spot - and there are plenty of classics and non-pisco options on the menu too.

Music and Good Times at COYA
Look out for special events at COYA - they pull them off really well. We’ve had a blast at their Halloween parties and New Years Eve celebrations, and the staff really get involved to make sure you’re enjoying yourself. There’s a dedicated DJ booth for when things kick up a notch, and even during a regular weekday lunch the background tunes are vibey, favouring Latin American bands and toe-tapping rhythms.
COYA’s water views from the giant west-facing windows - perfect for sunset - have been temporarily interrupted with construction of the soon-to-be-completed fountains at The Galleria, but you can still spy the sea beyond. Truthfully, we were quite enthralled on our last visit having a sticky beak at the fountain area taking shape, and we know COYA will be one of the hottest tickets in town once the precinct is complete. In the meantime, don’t let it put you off. Food, staff and vibes remain as excellent as ever, and it remains one of Abu Dhabi’s favourite restaurants.
