Take a break from the action of Ferrari World Yas Island for an adventure of another kind: filling your stomach with all your favourite Italian food! Treat yourself to an impressive culinary offering, plating up the best of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region at Gran Tour Emilia, or home-style, hearty Italian goodness at Mamma Rossella - these two are the best restaurants at Ferrari World in our humble opinion. Inspiration for both restaurants comes from the very birthplace of Ferrari, and the home of the Ferrari factory, so you’re enjoying a little piece of Ferrari’s history with every meal - this isn’t a theme park that does things by half!

Get your foodie fix as you spend an action-packed day at Ferrari World - you’ll work up an appetite on Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest roller coaster, put yourself through your paces on Flying Aces, or hone your skills at the Karting Academy - and if you aren’t feeling a pizza or pasta fix on the day, tuck into burgers, shawarma, gelato and snacks in amongst all the action.

Mamma Rossella

Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

If you want a taste of Ferrari’s history, you can’t go past lunch or dinner at Mamma Rossella on your next visit to Ferrari World. Named for the iconic chef Rossella Giannini of Ristorante Montana, the restaurant the Ferrari drivers would eat at in Maranello, Italy between practice laps at Ferrari’s Fiorana test track. The walls are adorned with photos of the restaurant’s famous patrons: (EG) and most notably Michael Schumacher, who came to view Rossella as a second mum during his Ferrari years - often even cooking together. Rossella herself came to Abu Dhabi for the grand opening of Mamma Rossella at Ferrari World - cooking up a storm in her signature humble fashion. Be sure to take a peak at the autographed tablecloths and photos on the walls when you visit: it’s a lovely homage to a heartfelt piece of Ferrari’s history.

So what’s on the menu? All manner of freshly made pizza - don’s skip the burrata (AED74) - alongside appetisers (salt & pepper calamari - yum!), salads and classic Italian fare. Our pick? Gramigna (AED64) - Mamma Rossella’s signature - which was literally melt-in-the-mouth good, fresh from the kitchen with generous helpings of Parmesan cheese added tableside. There are some tempting mains if you’re not in a pizza-and-pasta mood, but we couldn’t be swayed from our carb-heaven.

Save room for dessert - head across the way for freshly piped cannoli (AED34), with your pick of flavours like pistachio, nutella and espresso - best eaten as you wander the sweeping Italian streetscapes of Ferrari World Yas Island.

Timing: daily | 11AM - 8PM

Gran Tour Emilia

Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

Ferrari World Yas Island’s most upscale restaurant, Gran Tour Emilia is thoughtfully designed: from porticos that’ll transport you to afternoon strolls down an Italian street, to lights that are a funky combination of engine pieces and factory lights from the Ferrari factory in Italy, to premium quality balsamic, olive oil and Parmigiano-Reggiano direct from the Emilia-Romagna region, every detail has been carefully thought out.

Arrive hungry - whether you’re fuelling up for an action-packed visit, taking a break from the excitement of Ferrari World or want to finish your theme park adventure on a tasty - and authentic - note, you’re in for a treat. Tuck into some delightful antipasti to start: we rate Nonna’s meatballs - polpette della nonna (AED85) - homemade meatballs in tomato sauce. Try tegamini - the region’s own style of pizza, with a thicker crust and crispy base, and get your burrata fix with their burrata e pizzutelli (AED90), the burrata topped with signature yellow tomato. Pastas are well priced for the quality. We enjoyed the tortelli ricotta e spinaci (AED90), tender triangles of pasta with a creamy ricotta and spinach filling, but the lasagna verde della casa (AED95) is a must-try. A signature lasagna, it’s as tasty as it is aesthetic: homemade green pasta encasing traditional beef ragu, bechamel & Parmigiano-Reggiano. From the mains, pollo alla diavola (AED135) is a winner. The boneless cornfed baby chicken - with a honey and smoked paprika glaze - served with a silky smooth carrot puree (yum) and hasselback potatoes that go down a treat.

Dolci - again - shouldn’t be missed! Tiramisu (AED50) versus profiteroles al pistacchio (AED50). Both are finished tableside and both are excellent! Keeping with the family-friendly Ferrari World vibe, Gran Tour Emilia isn’t licensed - not that you’d notice! The bar itself is lovely, right down to being adorned with terracotta roof tiles from the rolling hills of Emilia-Romagna - and the talented bartender whipped up some of the most impressive mocktails we’ve seen

If you’re planning a day out hitting the roller coasters, have visitors in town or have a Ferrari World annual pass, be sure to stop by Gran Tour Emilia - from the warm hospitality of the staff to the excellent food, it is the perfect upmarket dining experience to complete your Ferrari experience.
