Every so often, we stumble upon a winner of a spot that has been around for ages - and we’ve either forgotten it was there, or have somehow never been! Noodle Bowl is one of those hidden gems: they have a lot of loyal customers, but unless you’ve been bowling at Zayed Sports City, you might never have laid eyes on the restaurant! Luckily, we’re here with a timely PSA: take yourself in for some authentic, Chinese food that doesn’t pretend to be too fancy. It’s homestyle cooking that will fill your belly - and give you plenty of stamina for a bowling game or two while you’re at it!
Noodle Bowl has been open in this spot for 16 years - that’s some serious longevity in Abu Dhabi, when we’re constantly seeing restaurants come and go! Not sure what to order? No worries - we put our faith in the hands of a lovely waitress who has been working at Noodle Bowl for 11 years, and she nailed it. Her recommendations? Laksa lemak noodle soup, sweet and sour chicken, mixed seafood dumplings and crispy beef with ginger, all washed down with oolong tea.
The food quality is good - not too fancy or trendy, with over the top garnishes or quirky plating, but more of a homemade feel which is just what you want after a few hours of running around at ZSC. The food arrived hot and fresh, and the quantity was solid for the price. You’ll find plenty of Southeast Asian comfort dishes on the menu, and for us the laksa really stood out: the perfect balance of flavours. The crispy beef was a close second place, and both were polished off in minutes.
Seating is available inside, or grab a spot outside overlooking the bowling lanes for a bit of a retro vibe. Even better, if you take the kids for some bowling fun, you can enjoy your lunch in peace while they’re distracted. It’s a great outing with a bunch of friends, or even when you’re trying to come up with a unique date night idea that’s a little out of the ordinary.
