Maté’s Asado brunch is never far from the top when it comes to the best brunches in Abu Dhabi - and that doesn’t change during summer! Every single dish that comes to the table scores well on both taste and presentation - from charcoal empanadas flame-grilled meats, go prepared for wow-factor. Kick off with dishes from the Buenos Aires region, then move on to the Rio Negro starters list featuring the likes of king crab salad served in a giant crab shell and 24 hour slow cooked veal belly. Saturday brunch at Barbossa

You’ll be glad this is a four hour brunch: the excellent drinks and even better playlist spun by the DJ - think 80s and 90s R&B, rock and pop classics - will have you dancing in your seat, and before long dancing out of it, too! You can give the dancers that appear throughout a run for their money - it's a fabulous way to spend a Saturday afternoon this summer.

Saturday Brunch at NURI Grill & Bar

Looking for a cool Korean brunch in Yas Bay -one with excellent food, creative cocktails and a great vibe? NURI has got the lot - and it’s some of the best brunch food we’ve had this summer! The resident DJ has the tunes on point - the music’s vibey without being overwhelming. 

The food keeps coming - and between chatting, working our way through the drinks selection and eating, three and a half hours flew by. Sharing starters land in two batches, so pace yourself. Look out for beef tataki that’s as pretty as a picture and lovely and light, skewers of spicy chicken, sweet soy beef and king oyster mushroom served atop a mini grill, and perfectly crispy - and an essential at any self-respecting Korean brunch - Korean fried chicken! The thin sliced beef bulgogi is marinated with Korean BBQ sauce, and served atop a grill - the steam rising and eliciting a last growl from our stuffed bellies, before the staff arrive and cook up a storm in front of you with premium cuts of beef - wow! 

Dessert scores well, and NURI’s dessert platter is the perfect yin to the savoury courses’ yang. Homemade yuzu cheesecake was deliciously soft, and perfect with the abundance of fresh tropical fruit, while the mochi ice cream bites make for a cute touch. As for drinks, their house package has a nice selection of wines, classic cocktails, spirits and 3 flavours each of rice wine and Chamisul Soju. Perrier-Jouet is the Champagne of choice on the premium menu.

Keep the party going - there’s no need to leave NURI for post-brunch kick ons: we couldn’t pass up the chance for some proper Korean-style karaoke in one of Nuri’s private rooms. The staff are friendly, attentive, on-point for any help you need with the menu and speedy with drinks - they really do this Saturday brunch justice. Praise for NURI is well-deserved: for a fun and fresh brunch, you can’t go wrong here - and we’d wager you can’t go hungry or thirsty even if you tried!

A go-to brunch on our winter rotation - sitting in the courtyard is a wonderful way to pass a Saturday afternoon - Taparelle shouldn’t be skipped in summer either! They’re clever with the space, accommodating larger groups than you’d expect, and the food at this table brunch is some of the best: the quality is high, the variety is good and you can order extras of your favourites if you’re still hungry! A Mediterranean feast, work through a bunch of hot and cold starters - we can’t get enough of the garlic prawns and the calamari, followed by fresh woodfired pizza, pasta and mains of tender baby chicken and fall-apart-at-the-fork fish. The drinks selection is great, and the service is really on point - the staff know their stuff and are lovely into the bargain. Cocktails are delicious, and they have some of the best mocktails in the city - and the Champagne package is one of the best priced you'll find. We love that this brunch starts a little later, too - yet another big tick for Taparelle. Oh - and save room for dessert, it’s a lovely finish to what is always a great afternoon on Saadiyat Island!
