FIND YOUR WORK-LUNCH BALANCE AT HUNA

In the vast expanse that is Yas Mall, Huna emerges like an oasis: cool, energising, somewhere to recharge and most importantly, the location of some of the best foodie finds! Looking to get some work done on top of all that? Look no further - Huna Works has you covered.

Tucked away to the left of the main entrance, Huna is an innovative concept filled with homegrown UAE food and beverage talent. If you’re indecisive (like we are) and love trying all the options (like we do), you’re in the right place! There are concept cafes and offshoots of some Dubai big hitters - think BB Social, SLRP by 3 Fils, Otaku - so when we say this is an elevated foodhall experience, believe us.

When you work remotely, finding a location to meet up and actually be productive can be challenging. We love Huna Works for the seamless experience they provide. The concept, location and professionalism of their team make this such a no-brainer for workshops, team meetings or just somewhere ultra convenient to base yourself between appointments. Their location inside the Huna foodhall seals the deal for us - a slick hot-desking workspace on the periphery of some of the best bites on Yas? Just don't hold it against us if you end up taking several lunch breaks during the day!

Huna Works is an innovative and dynamic workspace, offering day passes, nomad, resident and studio options. They provide:

  • Open desk access across all locations
  • Fiber optic broadband
  • Private and casual meeting rooms
  • Kitchen/tea and coffee
  • Majlis

OUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANTS IN HUNA!

BB SOCIAL DINING

This Dubai favourite opened their first pop-up in Huna before their Abu Dhabi flagship at the Rosewood. Modern Eastern bites that excite both the eyes and the stomach are on offer. We love BB Social’s sushi - both the chirashi maki roll and tempura maki roll are perfectly put together, made fresh to order. They are no slouch in the ramen department either, and for a dish that can often be a little bland looking, this one is a visual treat. The soft, pillowy baos are a must-try too!

TACO VILLE

Let’s not taco ‘bout how bad our puns can be, but how great these tacos are! We start with a spicy kick, the chicken mango duo with chipotle-mayo, to get our blood pumping. For the fish taco stayers, gobernador (grilled fresh local prawns and gobernador sauce) will hit the spot. Our personal favourite? Campechanos, complete with slow-cooked wagyu brisket, chorizo and cheese crust: these aren’t your standard tacos, it’s Mexican food that really packs a punch and the fresh elements - mango, avocado, pico de gallo - definitely cut through.

MAXZI

Truffle is certainly having a big moment right now but the real question is, does it belong on a burger? It’s a resounding yes from us - you could smell the truffle the moment the truffle mushroom cheeseburger appeared, and there was a collective stomach growl in response! The bun was fresh, the burger was juicy and the mushroom/truffle sauce combo to top it off was primo.

SLRP BY 3 FILS

This wasn’t our first SLRP rodeo, and it’s unlikely to be our last! The cult favourite ramen - we chose spicy miso this time - ticks all the boxes on every visit. Bibs optional but highly recommended, it’s not called SLRP for nothing! We love the salmon carpaccio and the wagyu kushiyaki, as well as being delicious, is next-level aesthetic, what a work of art! Another don’t miss? The lamb skewers which are an absolute dream.

PHILOTIMOS

Quality Greek cuisine that lets the fresh ingredients speak for themselves is hard for us to pass up - and thankfully, we don’t have to. If there is an award for the prettiest gyros we have seen, it would be hanging on their wall. We also rate the dakos salad - the fresh tomato and feta really hit the spot, along with a kick of red onion, the bread pieces soaking up the flavour and binding the dish together. Our attack on the feta fries is reminiscent of a colony of seagulls, and the calamari hardly fared any better!

ALGARVE

If you’ve been lucky enough to eat fresh pastéis de nata in Portugal and want to relive the experience, we’ve found the spot. These tiny custard bites of joy really hit the spot and are the best version of this glorious little mouthful in Abu Dhabi - if you decide to take some extras home with you, you’re in good company (ours!). The leite creme dessert is a handmade Portuguese version of crème brûlée, and again they knock it out of the park. True to form, we started with dessert, but the Portuguese seafood rice is also a winner - not stingy on the seafood! - and their drinks are a treat. We rate the pink chocolate milkshake and acai kick. You won’t leave hungry!

BABU TOWN

Phew! Thirsty from all your shopping? Alongside their excellent Indian fare, the Huna outpost of this Gulf favourite really has you covered for a refreshing drink or three. If you asked us to choose between the strawberry mojito, lemon mojito and mango juice we’d be in trouble. In need of some sustenance before braving the masses again? The vegetable jalfrezi has a depth of flavour and richness that strikes a perfect balance without being too heavy.

OTAKU

This Japanese eatery and purveyor of specialty coffee is perched to the right as you enter Huna. The friendly staff alone will put a smile on your face, but their delightful souffle pancakes will put a smile in your belly! These pillowy, jiggly pancakes come in a range of flavours, and it’s one of those moments where each one you try becomes your new favourite.

Hitting that 3PM slump? We hear you, and thankfully a round of coffees from Otaku perks us right back up - we are fans of their iced Spanish lattes, while the rose latte is just as pretty as a picture!
