STEAK IT EASY BRUNCH AT RAY'S GRILL!
Pull up a chair at the floor to ceiling windows and start drinking in the view: ours was out to sea, perfect viewing for the yacht race taking place off the corniche.
We chose our drinks and perused the menu ready for the starter course.
STARTERS
We loved the Caesar salad, just garlicky enough and rich with eggs and chicken. The pate was a great option and one that we don't see enough in Abu Dhabi, but it was the crab cakes that really stole the show. These were excellent with a crunchy base and a juicy, piquant crab meat filling, great with the fig puree on the side.
MAINS
The trolley bearing the massive slab of prime rib and trimmings was a sight to behold. The server carved us off steak-width chunks, cooked to perfection and we all agreed the quality of the meat was outstanding - without any reservation, this was the best meat we'd tasted in a long time.
Along with the meat were pots of mac n cheese, a creamy mashed potato, diced root vegetables and a small jug of gravy. There were also large and tasty Yorkshire puddings, which were excellent paired with the beef.
As well as the meat, there was a classic sea bass dish, topped with prawns - a superb option for anyone who'd prefer fish over meat.
DESSERT
Dessert arrived on a beautiful tray and included a good apple crumble with a creamy apple base, a superb sticky date pudding, cheesecake with a lotus cream, chocolate mousse cake and a tray of fresh fruit.
These small dishes were great for sharing and meant we got to try a bit of everything.
DRINKS
In terms of cocktails, they'll pretty much make whatever you like! We enjoyed the mocktails too and it was a superb idea to finish with an espresso martini!
There's a good wine list and the staff were great at recommending pairings.
If you're keen to catch up with friends and enjoy good food and wine, Steak It Easy brunch is a great idea.
