Last Thursday, over 40 Best Bites ladies got together at La Carnita to enjoy a ladies' night full of tequila and tacos. La Carnita was abuzz with laughter and clinking glasses. Our tables were dotted all over the bar - some had the prime people-watching positions on the lounge seats by the waterfront, larger groups enjoyed the comfortable booth seating in the restaurant and a few had high tables closer to the DJ and bar.

As part of the ladies' night event, La Carnita offered our ladies margaritas, house white wine or bottled beer. I didn’t notice anyone on the beer but the margaritas and wine went down a treat. The classic margaritas were fabulous – refreshing with the perfect ratio of tangy and sweet. The waiters came around with margarita jugs so the refills were fast but didn’t compromise on the flavour. I discovered that night that La Carnita has happy hour Monday-Friday from 4-7pm with margaritas at AED 32. Yes pleaaase!

La Carnita provided our Best Bites members with a selection of their best signature dishes. First up was the chunky guacamole with hints of chilli, scooped up with lightly spiced corn tortilla chips. I couldn’t stop myself until the bowl was wiped clean! The selection of tacos followed soon after. The pollo loco, a crispy fried chicken thigh drizzled in a spicy peanut lime hot sauce and a touch of fresh white cabbage to manage the heat, was my favourite among the options, with the braised short rib beef taco taking a close second. They also brought us the chicken fajitas with rice, beans and guac to try as they are a new menu item. After hearing a lot of excitement around the churros, our table waited eagerly. YUP – they lived up to the hype! Warm, fresh churros with a beautiful crunch. And the sweet cajeta sauce... 

The place was full, and the guests were vibing to the great selection of tunes by the DJ (although it was maybe a little loud towards the end!). We saw many people passing by having a look in to see if there was any tables available as it was such a great atmosphere. A few of them booked for this week so they wouldn’t miss out!

A huge thank you to the team at La Carnita who did an excellent job at ensuring our Best Bites members had a great night, the drinks never empty and our tummy’s full. Also a shout out to all the ladies who came that night (and for not giving me stress with last-minute cancellations).
