KISHI SATURDAY BRUNCH

TEPPANYAKI

Teppanyaki, TeppanYES PLEASE

When you think of Al Forsan Sports Resort you don’t necessarily think of Japanese food, but you should. Kishi have just upgraded their brunch menu, and with tasty sushi, fab buffet offerings and flame-filled teppanyaki this is a great way to spend a chilled-out Saturday. Especially one that you have just spent doing a high-adrenaline sports activity. Whilst not being a party brunch, Kishi still has a great casual atmosphere with the two teppanyaki grills flamed up and ready for your orders and a great price point to boot.

Shrimply the best: We started with a mix of buffet starters, we especially enjoyed the crispy tuna spring rolls and the flavourful steamed seafood gyoza. There was an impressive salad display, but I will admit to forgoing it in favour of the Kaitenzushi/sushi train, that had caught my eye as soon as we had walked in. You are welcome to take the plates of sushi/maki rolls ambling their way around the track or ask one of the talented sushi chefs to make your favourite. The tempura shrimp was especially moreish, and anything with dynamite sauce is A-OK in my book! There was also a range of sashimi and freshly shucked oysters on ice.

Oodles of noodles: The yaki udon noodle station for me was the absolute highlight of the brunch. Help yourself to whatever veggies you desire and pass it over to the chef to cook up with a choice of meat and either udon (thick) noodles, soba (thin) noodles or rice. It is on this grill that the chef works his magic, creating a dish full of flavour. This was slurpingly good and so very filling, with a rich soy based, tangy sauce and crunchy veg. We could have easily shared one plate between us, the portion was that big, but then again it was too good to share! Like a moth drawn to a flame, quite literally, I just had to check out the flaming teppanyaki grill opposite. Showing off some impressive knife skills and flame tricks we were served some juicy spicy tiger prawns, and tasty steak tenderloin. With chicken, Hammour and calamari also on offer this is a grill lovers dream.

Cake smash: The dessert station was colourful, plentiful and had a great selection. From fresh fruit to a layered chocolate sponge, there was something for everyone. I loved the tiny oat-encrusted custard fruit tarts and the creamy individual tiramisus. There was also some whipped cream covered sheep cupcakes which were too cute to resist.

At just AED149 for the soft package and AED249 for the house package, this is a great way to fill your belly for a pocket friendly price. Domo Arigato, Kishi.
