The days when this space was a netball court now seem like a distant memory and it's now transformed into an exceptional outdoor area, complete with 2 bars, a massive screen with fantastic sound, bean bags, picnic tables and tables and chairs. They also have shisha, at the bargain price of AED50, either down on the flat or upstairs in the very comfortable space which gives great sunset views. The opening of this has coincided with the readiness of the new menu which has some things perfect for watching sport on the big screen.

There were some clear favourites for us: the sesame prawn toast (AED30) was really tasty - though you definitely have to close your eyes and not count the calories. We also enjoyed the tandoori chicken tikka (AED48), where the chicken is tasty with a definite kick, the mac & cheese bites with truffle dip (AED38), giving you cheese pull for days and the avocado spring rolls (AED35). We also liked the salmon and crab roll with spicy dynamite sauce. Portions are generous and enough for one person to say they've had a meal.

For mains we enjoyed the lamb chops and the brisket (a really tender, fall off the bone version), both of which came with a smooth mash and vegetables. The second time I went, I was happy to just go with the meat and asked them not to add the greens. The duck salad (AED50), texturally lovely with nuts and pomegranate was also really good and a more healthy option for those keen not to overeat.

For dessert, there's ice-cream as well as a couple of more pudding-y things. We enjoyed the apple crumble with custard and a scoop of ice-cream.

There was a definite vibe there last night - the area had loads of families before the match started and by the time the game began, it was completely full of avid football fans.

Service is good: order your food from the bar and it's delivered to your table and the shisha was also really brilliant.

If you live anywhere in the vicinity, the Boundary Backyard could well become your go-to place this winter. It's a good safe space for kids to run around, but also a great place to sit with a drink and a shisha and enjoy the fantastic weather.
