One for lovers of great Indian food

Chef Gurleen is a bit of a find. He has a strong philosophy that Indian food doesn't need to be hella spicy in order for it to be high on flavour, and that's exactly what Khana Khazana offers, making it perfect for people like me who break out in a sweat at the mere mention of spice! Choose your spice level and enjoy!

Food

We started with the most glorious chicken malai tikka, tender and full of flavour (if you want to go off-BB+-menu, order the chicken malai tikka bao buns ... yum!) and a superb samosa chaat. We also spied the seekh and hara kebabs and will try the paneer next time.

We managed to steer ourselves away from the usual butter chicken for main and take Chef's recommendation for the lamb shank rogan josh. This was a wow dish, made especially luscious when the sauce is mopped up with accompanying naan. Top tip: we all love the garlic naan but the chili naan was light, crispy and with the most delicate of bites. There are a couple of vegetarian options on the menu too including the house special, dal Khazana and an excellent biryani with raita.

I never have particularly high hopes for dessert, but these 2 options were gorgeous. The lotus kulfi may have been our favourite but the gulabi falooda was just so refreshing and felt perfect for summer. We need to try the rasmalai cake and the gulab ki kheer next time!

Extras

We had the most amazing mojito, with small chunks of mango for a side-hustle taste, and they also offer beer and wine and house pours. Shisha is good and at only AED50 with this menu, makes for a great bargain.

This is a simple restaurant where food is definitely king and another great place to use your BB+!
