Reviews
Views over the twinkling lights of the city, rooftop ambiance ... suhoor at AT25 at Marriott Downtown is magical. Enjoy the amazing selection of Ramadan drinks with something for every taste. The passion lassi was filling and slightly tart while the asfahani - tamarind and pineapple with a saffron topping) - was absolutely excellent - probably my favourite. The sweetest of the three was the layali Ramadan, made with jallah, with the deep red from blackberries and a dash of mint to freshen it up. These were so refreshing and entirely perfect for the season.
You can also enjoy good quality shisha from AED95 and an excellent suhoor menu.

As soon as you walk into AT25 on the 25th floor of Marriott Downtown, you're pretty much glad you came: it has a massive appeal both for its views and for the comfortable but excellent decor (by this I mean chairs you can sit over drinks or shisha but can also eat dinner without spilling all over yourself
My companions had never been before and both were suitably impressed by the sweeping views over the city and the warm welcome they received when they arrived - something I find is lacking at the moment in too many places.
New menu items. They've expanded the menu to include some really superb dishes. The thinly sliced steak, covered with a mushroom and lemon garlic sauce (AED102) was my favourite new addition: the meat just melted in your mouth. We enjoyed the cold mezze and the outstanding spicy jumbo prawns but the bulgar salad , with sumac tuna (AED52) was the surprise dish of the night. Don't be put off by its plain exterior, this dish has a light lemony tang and went straight onto our 'would-order-again' list.
I think if I was coming alone, and didn't feel like I needed to try half the menu, I would order only a plate of arayes bread, which is filled with the best, most beautifully spiced lamb kofta in town. There is no better that I've tasted - give it a try. I'd follow this with another major food group item, zaatar manakish (AED35). Straight out of the oven, with crispy edges and a generous covering of zaatar, this was an absolute winner.
Shisha was good and drinks were better - Alex enjoyed the Tequi-laila (AED55), one of Ryan's great concoctions and everything came very quickly.
AT25 is a great option if you live in the city, or like me, just want somewhere casual to eat nice food and enjoy great views. Bring your visitors for an impressive, reasonably priced night out .. and also bring a cardie because whilst it was fine last week, it's definitely getting chillier in the evenings ... music to our ears!
