Locally grown, Canadian-inspired: 3.14 Pie House has been flying a little under the radar - they’ve been operating for around 6 months now, located at The Alley in Miza (Mina Port area). Founder Mohammed is a legend - as well as being a super lovely guy, you can feel the heart and soul he’s poured into every element of the business.

Everything has a personal touch - from the Pie House catchphrases and the funky staff tees (can we request a merch drop, please?) to Mohammed becoming an expert pie baker in the process of 3.14’s journey to opening. Born in the UAE, he moved to Canada and lived there for many years - long enough to become a certified pie enthusiast - before returning to Abu Dhabi. He saw a gap in the market for really, really great pies - enter 3.14 Pie House.

But don’t think it’s just a spot for our homesick North-American friends - although yes, you’ll find a cracking pumpkin pie on the menu - it won over an Aussie pie lover as well!

So What Did We Eat?

Choosing a pie is absolutely the hardest part of your visit - so we recommend grabbing a few. Share with your friends, or take a couple home for later for maximum satisfaction - and minimal FOMO. Our chicken pot pie was demolished embarrassingly quickly - the filling is so hearty and flavourful - and the cheesy pull-apart goodness when we dove into the spinach and ricotta pie was next level. The crusts are crispy, they don’t fall apart in your hands (my biggest pie pet peeve!) and the team have nailed the crust-to-filling ratio.

Next up? Sweet pies! As well as the aforementioned pumpkin pie (I’m no expert, but this was delish - go and see for yourself), we cracked happily into an apple pie (apparently there was ice cream available, but it was so fresh and sweet with a touch of cinnamon, it wasn’t needed). Too full to try any others, we peeped a glorious looking banana cream pie landing fresh in the display case, and heard from a very happy Canadian customer that the choco-peanut pie was a 10/10. Pies will set you back AED44 each - and for the quality, of both pastry and filling, and the size (one pie would have filled us, if we weren’t channelling Miss Piggy on the day), it’s worth it.

Wash it all down with a drink - try the Big Mama shake (AED30), prepared with great secrecy and plenty of sass by Mama herself. Secret ingredients aside, we could pick plenty of berries and some peanut butter, so we’re giving it a healthy tick of approval as this was basically our breakfast. Shakes, mojitos, fresh lemonade and for your four-legged pals, the mandatory puppychino (AE20) also make the drinks menu.

Yep, you read that correctly - they’re dog-friendly, which is probably an understatement. Official dog-fluencer of 3.14 Pie House, Sarabi was on hand to show us how delicious the puppychino was - and scored maximum good girl points while she was at it. 3.14 is operating out of one of the funky converted shipping containers at Miza’s The Alley - they have a couple of tables for you to sit and enjoy your pies piping hot from the oven, and your furry friends can enjoy the sunshine and a healthy doggy drink while you’re at it.

The team at 3.14 Pie House is amazing - good vibes, big smiles, dance moves are on point - and their pie baking skills are top notch! Honorine and Mercy were in the kitchen when we visited, and they were a tonne of fun - as well as being whizzes in the kitchen, whipping up our pies and drinks fresh to order. Need one last reason to visit? You can feel good about getting your pie fix - part of 3.14 Pie House’s proceeds go to Rammun Foundation, delivering urgent aid to Gaza.

Keep an eye on this one, we think there are some big things on the horizon for Mohammed and the team - and show them some love. We really love to see a locally grown business with this much passion - and this much heart! And when their product is as delicious as these pies? It’s a no brainer!
