The Director's Club isn't so much a steakhouse as a superb meatery, where you can enjoy your chosen type and cut of meat, prepared exactly to your preference. The venue itself is cool and sophisticated, but somewhere where you feel completely comfortable enjoying a cocktail from the excellent selection or a glass of wine chosen from the extensive wine list.
The meat menu will have your mouth watering: we love the American filet mignon (starting at AED240) which goes well with a side of duck fat fries, and the Australian rib eye (AED365) for when we're feeling hungry! As well as the excellent meat options, there are plenty of seafood options, the sous vide black cod being a highlight (AED170).
The Director's Club is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a great steak in Abu Dhabi.

ACRES GRILL HOUSE
YAS ACRES
The Acres Grill House is a great option for off-islanders needing a great steak but not wanting to spend a fortune to get it. The menu has a load of great choices - 12 steak options to be precise - with some seafood options and short rib as well as a few vegetarian offerings.
We recommend the US prime rib-eye,(AED200 for 350 grams), perfectly seared and with tasty marbling. It comes with a thick mushroom sauce, truffle mash (just a hint of truffle on some very creamy mash), grilled asparagus, and can be washed down with a full-bodied Shiraz.

MATÉ
PARK HYATT
The restaurant gives moody, smoky vibes and a strong sense that it's serious about meat, with a massive open kitchen complete with live grills and busy, skilled chefs. I'm going to save you some time, in every sense, Maté is fire.
We love it for the a la carte but both the Wednesday night La Barra menu (from AED175) and the Asado Libre Saturday brunch (from AED320) are absolutely excellent ways to enjoy steak, if you'd like a package. The various cuts are cooked and seasoned to perfection, with a very real smoky taste that elevates the meat. The flambeed tomahawk at brunch is an example of incredible food theatre that brings this brunch from good to amazing.
Maté is definitely one of Abu Dhabi's best steakhouses and a solid must-try.

VILLA TOSCANA

Villa Toscana is a great option for anyone who fancies a steak but is dining out with a bunch of people who are craving great Italian. The Wagyu tenderloin here is absolutely superb and comes with the most sublime of vegetable options, a creamy cauliflower puree. It's drizzled with an excellent jus and is melt-in-your-mouth good. It comes in at AED305 and is worth every fil!

THE GALLERIA AT AL MARYAH
Bentley Kitchen is pretty well-known in Abu Dhabi for its steak and has 7 options to choose from on the menu.
We love the Silver Fern Farms fillet (AED195) and Wagyu ribeye but the 300gRangers Valley Wagyu Flat Iron Steak with the glorious herb butter (AED305) comes in a very close second. Choose the cut that floats your boat the most and enjoy the very strong steak game that Bentley's has to offer.

BUTCHER & STILL
FOUR SEASONS ABU DHABI
Butcher & Still is the steakhouse to go to when you want to impress. It serves excellent American food, in a Chicago Prohibition era setting - side note: the theme extends to Al Capone's bullets serving as wallpaper!
Butcher & Still represents a next-level dining experience. Start with the best bread in the world - not even an exaggeration - but save room for what will be an incredible steak. We like the rib-eye (400g for AED410) which is succulent and beyond tasty and if you really want to splash out, the dry-aged, bone -in 1200 gram tomahawk is an impressively massive option (AED895).
If you're on a more constrained budget, go for Prime Rib Tuesday where you can enjoy a “Chicago Cut” which includes a fully-loaded baked potato side and a delicious sundae for dessert and costs just AED 295 per piece.
This is a great experience for anyone looking to entertain overseas colleagues or guests or just want a really great meal at a place where the vibes are as impeccable as the cuts.

SWISS BUTTER
NOVOTEL AL BUSTAN
From one extreme to another: Swiss Butter allows you to have a really nice steak meal for AED78. No, this isn't a misprint!
It’s the simplest of concepts, there’s no menu to scan or peruse, just a board on the wall: they offer just three proteins: beef, chicken and salmon. These are served in a skillet with the special Swiss Butter sauce and boarded up with baguette doorstops (white or brown), a mountain of thin-cut French fries (or a giant baked potato)and a generous serving of salad greens.
The AED78 price tag makes this one of the best value-for-money options in town and second, the protein skillet is unbelievably good. The secret lies in the sauce which, we’re reliably informed, is made with 33 different herbs and spices and of course a fair amount of butter. As a result of this deliciousness, the steak is incredibly tender and surprisingly light.

THE SPORTSMAN'S ARMS
ZAYED SPORTS CITY
The Sportsman's Arms can get you a great steak in a classy pub setting. Head there on a Thursday night for your choice of striploin or rib rye steak, with a glass of wine for just AED110. It's a bargain and the steak is good quality and well-seasoned and cooked. Watch your favourite match on the big screens and your steak night is made.

GUNGOR CHEF
LEAF TOWER, REEM ISLAND
This newly opened restaurant is a brain child of Gungor Chef himself - you may know him from the excellent Patron on the Corniche (another fabulous place for steak!)
If it's steak you're after, the flaming and huge steak Fiorentina is your jam. The meat arrives having been deftly cut away from the bone and cooked to perfection in Turkish butter and marrow broth. It's then flamed tableside, giving you all the food theatre you need in your life. The steak itself is gorgeously marbled and tender, perfect either for sharing or chugging through yourself. Considering you get an entire kilogram of steak, the AED360 price tag is pretty decent.
Enjoy it with a good red wine or one of the restaurant's superb cocktails.

THE GRILL
MARRIOTT AL FORSAN
If you live in Khalifa City or thereabouts, The Grill is a great option for a steak, either for a cheeky mid-week can't-cook-won't-cook situation or a date night.
3 steaks, 3 wines, 1 side, 1 sauce! If the only way to travel right now is through food, then sign us up!
There are three steaks on the tasting menu, each from a different country. Compare the different tastes of each tenderloin and see which comes out on top for you - spoiler alert: we loved the Australian but the cuts vary from week to week. The sauces are excellent - go for the bearnaise if that's your thing but we really love the black pepper jam which is outstanding.
Each steak is then paired with a wine from the same country for just AED50 more which is well worth it.
This is a great steak promotion that amounts to a decent mid-week offering.
