Bate (pronounced Baa-tay) is an amazing summer brunch option if you love love love Japanese food, as we do. The offering is generous: start with appetisers, including a massive sushi and sashimi tower, gyozas, super salads. Mains are more exciting than the average - the ansim tenderloin was a winner, and the incredible crispy sweet potato is a great vegetarian option.
The softbab is where it all gets a bit interesting: the softbab is ceremoniously untied from its own clay pot, where the salmon and short rib lies on a bed of rice, which is crispy at the edges. The waiter then mixes it all in together - you can ask for it not to be mixed if you prefer to avoid the rice, but it's absolutely delicious.
The other stand-out about the Sakura brunch is the gorgeous cocktails and mocktails. These are must-trys and make this a brunch worth trying.
