A HOME RUN FOR THE GOAT

DINNER AT THE GOAT

After quietly rebranding over the summer, The G.O.A.T (previously Viewz) has had a bit more than just a change of wallpaper. It was always somewhere that we would only visit for a few drinks and maaaaybe an order of mozzarella sticks and curly fries – the safer option on the menu. But, with the opening of their new kitchen and a full redesign of their menu, The G.O.A.T has shifted from simply a sports bar to a full sports bar & restaurant.

The Undercard: In sports bar style, we kicked off with a bowl of nachos and a sharing platter. We all enjoy nachos, but these were unexpectedly good: beautifully plated and super-loaded with Cajun spiced beef, bacon, pockets of pico de gallo, guac and sour cream and of course, a smothering of cheddar cheese.

The addition of pomegranate was my favourite touch. The sharing platter offered a selection of the starter favourites: sticky BBQ chicken wings, big, spicy dynamite prawns, lightly fried calamari, and fries. Both options were great for sharing, but I could have had the nachos alone!

The Main Event: The lamb shank arrived in all its glory: a meltingly tender, huge piece of meat seasoned in fresh herbs and spices, laid on a bed of chunky mash potato drizzled in a rich gravy sauce. This dish was worthy of a fine dining restaurant! It’s a great price at just AED 89. Just like the dramatic scenes of cowboys entering a saloon, the Cowboy Steak really did turn heads. A chunky half kilo of juicy, fire grilled black angus ribeye steak – it was much bigger than the size of my hand! The side of crispy truffle baby potato with caramelized, glazed onions were amazing.

Bread & Buns: Served with the bone in and onion rings wrapped around, the slow cooked short rib burger was another impressive dish. We pulled the bone from the middle of the burger and the meat literally wiped the bone clean to fill the potato bun with tender rib meat.

This place has really done a 180 with their new menu and pulled out all the stops. It still has the TVs and a large projector to catch all the sporting action, dart boards, a pool table, drinks deals all day long and live music the week – but now you can actually go and enjoy a full meal!

The G.O.A.T has a festive menu starting from 6th December plus current deals: AED 49 business lunch menu with 2 courses and a drink, AED 99 all day every day for burger & 3 beers, Friday after brunch from AED95 with DJ & live band.
