Cocktail in hand, soft squidgy sunbeds, delightful Latin-inspired dishes, cracking live music and an ice-cold pool to dip into when the sun gets a little too warm. This pool day with a food and drink package could be the best way to spend your Sunday!

Sunnies on, we made our way to our reserved sunbeds and settled in for the afternoon. When my first cocktail appeared, an “Island Girl '', a sweet, fruity, coconut concoction, looking out to the bustling pool I truly felt like I was on holiday.

The buffet here is more like a grazing affair – with small, bitesize menu pieces that you can snack on, lazing on your sunbed, throughout the day. I liked the no-frills elements of it, with tasty tacos oozing with guacamole, cheeseburger sliders, chargrilled watermelon and feta salad, and spicy chorizo mini hotdogs which were lip-smackingly good. The star-of-the-show for me though had to be the freshly made-to-order seabass ceviche, stunningly simple, with an almighty kick from the red chilis, and softened out by the light, fragrant dressing.

The cocktail selection is varied and oh-so-good. We loved the frozen margaritas, and fresh, minty mojitos and I couldn’t get enough of therose froze – a lethal mixture of vodka, rose wine and lemon juice which tasted just like a strawberry slushie - that could well be my new favourite drink! The drinks selection is huge, and pretty much whatever wish will be granted by the smiling Hawaiian-clad waiters. If you don’t fancy staying by your sunbed, the barmen are happy to oblige and there is even an Aperol Spritz cart for lovers of the Italian tipple.

Atmosphere wise, it’s like a swanky beach club feel and as a sans-kids couple, I didn’t feel like I was entering a kids club, and certainly they’ve put some thought into this as the hotel guests were situated on one side of the pool with day-passers on the other. Throughout the day there was an AMAZING duo, blasting out some real bangers you couldn’t help but sing along to and various games like table foosball, ping pong and giant jenga to keep the holiday vibes alive.
