When the sun sets during Ramadan, those who are fasting break their fast with a meal commonly called iftar or ftoor. Once the call to prayer sounds and the cannon goes off at various locations around the city, the body is replenished after a long day of fasting. Even for those of us not fasting, this is a great time for colleagues and families to get together and share the meal.

Typically, Ramadan iftar is a buffet. Dates are on the table and often laban, which are used to break the fast, after which time, people may go off to pray. There are also soups (often lentil soup), salads, main dishes such as meat - always a lamb ouzi and often a machboos, fish, and vegetable dishes, and desserts with a good range of Ramadan sweets.

Ramadan iftar is a time of celebration, community, and gratitude, as Muslims break their fast and come together to share a meal and reflect on the blessings of Ramadan.

Marriott Hotel Al Forsan, Abu Dhabi is here to satisfy your cravings with a show stopping Iftar buffet at one of the city’s favorite Iftar destinations, Khayal Restaurant. The very best of traditional Arabic flavors & International delights are offered across six live stations and a sushi counter, along with fresh juices and Ramadan beverages.

Keep a lookout for the dessert stations which offer a variety of assorted desserts: baklawa towers, ice cream and the most scrumptious Arabic sweets and international treats.
