Where are they happening this year? Yas Bay is leading the fireworks charge by announcing that Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of Eid week will see the skies light up with another set of legendary Eid-al-Fitr fireworks.

RHINO RIDES

EASTERN MANGROVES

There's nothing quite like a boat ride into the mangroves at this time of year. Follow a guide in your own two-person boat (if you have a small child, they can fit too!) and see some of Abu Dhabi's most incredible wildlife. The mangrove ecosystem is rich in things to see: fixate on flamingos, hail some herons or tail the turtles - this is definitely an amazing experience for the family or with your squad. Stop for a swim, enjoy a picnic, your time is your own in this wonderful corner of the emirate.

You asked, they delivered! Now Central is offering a fabulous Sunday roast deal - perfect for parents who want to enjoy an hour's peace while the children bowl, play arcade or VR games. For just AED125, you can enjoy roast lamb, beef, chicken or fully vegetarian and a house beverage and AED50 arcade credit ... which, you will agree, is a bargain! The meat portions are generous and we bow down to anyone who can finish all this and the three large potatoes that come with it. The broccoli cheese is just superb and we loved the fresh, green beans too but the crowning glory of this roast is the massive Yorkshire which is enhanced by the decent amount of gravy to douse it in. This could become your family weekend go-to ... the price is certainly right!

QUOKKA

MARINA MALL, NEAR TEN ELEVEN

Parents alert! Gelato served by robots is a thing and it's happening at Quokka! Head to Quokka in Marina Mall to have your fine Italian gelati prepared by robotic arms, with robot Pepper issuing instructions and the arms doing the work, officially making it Abu Dhabi's funkiest gelateria.

It's all very simple and very 2022: robot Pepper will guide you through the ordering and payment process (card only), then scoop your gelato into a cute cup. This is then scooted down to the other robot arm to add your toppings and serve you. We opted for chocolate with lotus and Smarties - it was smooth, creamy and we loved watching the next order being made while we ate.

As an added attraction, there's a little robot who'll talk to you and dance for you, perfect for little kids and adults alike - it's a fantastic little spectacle and is a really good reason to head to Marina Mall.
