Stouff Beirut – Open Fire Kitchen
The Hub, World Trade Center
Highlights: meat dishes, open wood-fire grill, supervised kids room, shisha, cocktails
There have been a few great reviews for Stouff Beirut on Best Bites since they opened last month and now, I know why. Stouff Beirut has taken over half the space that was formerly BU and updated it to an exciting Lebanese – Mediterranean restaurant. The other half of the space will soon be a lounge, more details on this exciting space to follow! Chef Sharbel is leading the talented team in the kitchen and creating innovative dining experiences fusing different flavours and cooking techniques from around the globe. The kitchen is open concept and equipped with a josper grill and an open wood fire grill and oven.
They have a full-service bar that includes creative cocktails, beer, wine and mocktails. I started the evening with The Sherlock cocktail. It arrived at the table under a smoke-filled glass cloche. The cloche was lifted to reveal a delicious gin-based cocktail with pink grapefruit, sage syrup, and citrus bitters. It was well-balanced with bitter notes from the pink grapefruit.
When it comes to the food, the menu is quite large. Most dishes are reasonably priced but if you want to splurge, there are options for this too. To make the most of the experience, I would suggest ordering a bunch of dishes to share. We started with a selection of hot and cold mezze. The Armenian wheat salad looked simple but the flavours were anything but. It was packed with bright notes of tomato and lemon. The Beef Escabeche salad was excellent. The beef is cured and then pickled, a process that takes six days until it’s perfectly tender and ready to melt in your mouth. The shashlik Kkbab was packed full of juicy meat and spices. It was amazing! I also loved the kebab bel karaz with sour cherry glaze. There was a whole page on the menu dedicated to meat tartars! That’s my kind of page. The showstopping Wagyu tartar is made tableside, even the beef is ground to order. It’s mustard forward but leaves enough room for the 120-day aged Australian waygu to shine. This is a splurge dish! The teble truffle tartar is hand-pounded until the beef becomes so creamy, you won’t even believe it’s beef. The potence de boeuf was dinner with a show! The beef tenderloin was hung on a steel hook, flame-kissed, and then mixed into a pot of cheese fondue and roasted potatoes. Not for the faint of heart, this dish is decadent and delicious! The desserts are mostly Arabic classics and all made in-house. They were yummm!
They have a soft play area for kids with a dedicated nanny. It had a ball pit, a soft climbing area, and more! The beautiful terrace is inspired by the Mediterranean and is the perfect spot to enjoy a post-dinner shisha. They have a spectacular cedar tree, an ode to Lebanon, decorated with stunning decorations! A must-see!

I was thrilled with the opening of Stouff at The Hub, WTC since I love a Lebanese that's licensed.
The brief video embedded into the tablet menu helps you visualise the food and understand what to expect when the dish hits the table.
The portions are just right and it is priced in a way that allows you to sample multiple items without burning a hole in your pocket.
Certain items in the menu lend themselves to the chef finishing off the dish tableside, with flair.
They have a good listing of Lebanese wines.
Service has a few kinks to work out, but that must be because they're new.
All in all a good addition to the dining scene.

AED109 per person | kids under 11 AED56
Highlights: amazing price, supervised kids room, delicious dishes
If you’re starting to make your list of Iftars to visit this Ramadan, you’re going to want to include this one! One the first day of Ramadan Stouff Beirut will transform into a souk, with stations spread across the restaurant. Chef Sharbel is inspired by the flavours of Lebanon and beyond, offering more than fifty-five items! Expect an array of traditional preserves, a generous selection of hot and cold mezze, fresh juices, manakeesh, fish dishes, a selection of daily Lebanese main dishes, hareeseh (cooked for 15 hours over a wood fire), an array of house-made desserts, and traditional coffee. Stouff Beirut has priced this iftar at AED109 per person. Chef Sharbel is passionate about sharing his food and flavours with families and friends this Ramadan. This venue is perfect for the whole family as it has a supervised play area for kids. Here is a sneak peek of some of the items they will be featuring...
It's not an iftar without lentil soup and this one was excellent. It was a perfect consistency and the croutons were not your average croutons! The pumpkin kibbeh (vegan) was the best bite of the night. The dough was made from crushed wheat and pumpkin and was stuffed with onions and spinach. Oh my, these were gooood! There was a beautiful selection of hot mezze and all were very tasty. There were kebbe kras, cheese rkakat, sambusek lahme, hummus, and stuffed vine leaves.
I found the grilled chicken and oriental rice dish to be very comforting. Like a home-cooked dish, but refined. There was rice infused with warm Arabic spices like cinnamon and allspice and had a subtle creaminess. Sitting on top was juicy pieces of grilled chicken, toasted nuts, raisins, and herbs. This dish was hitting all of the right notes. The slow-cooked lamb shank was superb. It was served atop wheat, toasted pistachios, slivered almonds, chickpeas, and drizzled with a creamy gravy. The texture of the crunchy nuts with the wheat and the tender lamb was a winning combination!
All of the desserts featured for their iftar are made in-house. The baklava roll was stuffed full of walnuts layered between flaky pastry and sugar syrup. Worth. Every. Calorie. The pistachio cake(mafroukeh) was unlike any dessert I’ve ever tried. If you love floral flavours you will love this one as the cream was infused with geranium.
Stouff Beirut will also offer Suhoor, with a cover charge of AED69 per person. They will offer shisha on their lovely terrace and authentic suhoor dishes, desserts, and juices.
Iftar is served daily from sunset until 9pm. Suhoor is served 9.30pm-3am.
Reservations: 056 688 4042
*To note: Stouff Beirut will be serving these dishes (and more!) at their iftar, buffet style. These dishes were served to the table, plated individually, as part of an iftar preview.
