Held outside on the lawn under festoon lighting and plenty of Oktoberfest bunting you could be forgiven for thinking that you’d stepped out of Abu Dhabi and into the biergartens of Munich. This fun-filled family event is on every day until the 30th of October from 2PM – late.

The Drinks: Beer is the order of the day here with your favourites starting at 1 coupon (AED35). We liked the slight sweetness of the Paulaner, the almost citrusy smooth St Feuillien and the freshness of the Belgian lager. If you are not a beer drinker there are plenty of wine, spirits, and soft drinks to wet your whistle also.

The Food: Need something to sponge up that beer? The team at BAQ have you covered, with German snacks, a BBQ section flipping burgers, and Deutsch a la carte serving up tasty grilled chicken (AED70/2 coupons) or beef meatballs with red cabbage, mash and gravy (AED105/3 coupons). There is even a pork section and if you are craving a brat, they have the real deal here with the Wurst sampler (AED140/4 coupons), serving up real pork sausages, potato salad and sauerkraut. Desserts are not forgotten about either with slabs of Schokoladenküchen (that’s chocolate cake to you and me) and giant Oktoberfest cookies (AED70/2 coupons).

The Atmosphere: With loads of open space plus a huge bouncy castle slide available on the weekend there is enough to keep the kids entertained while the grown-ups enjoy the night. On the weekends there is live music (From 5PM - 11PM Thursday - Sunday) from a funky 3-piece-band, with plenty of sing-a-long tracks to have you swinging your stein, and join in on one of the traditional games like keg-rolling and stein racing. We caught the stein holding competition, with 10 party-goers battling it out to be crowned the heroic champion and win a stein of their choice. Prost!
