April Tasting Notes - Easy Drinker

Easy Drinker (AED 299) is a relaxed, crowd-pleasing mix of wines that are smooth, approachable and perfect for everyday drinking. The box includes a fresh Le Courier Chenin Blanc, a fruity Laurent Miguel Nocturnes Viognier, and the bright Spier Signature Chardonnay Pinot Noir, alongside three easy-going reds – Vineyard Friends Cabernet, Boschendal Lanoy Cabernet Merlot, and a classic Côtes du Rhône. Coming in just shy of AED50 per bottle, it’s the perfect mix to stock your cupboard with something for every palate.

Whites

Le Courier Chenin Blanc

Attractive aromas of pureed pear with hints of yellow apple, this is an excellent example of the grape variety to come from South Africa. The palate offers plenty of ripe pear juice flavours, with lively acidity and a soft, almost creamy like texture on the palate. Drink on its own, with risottos, soft cheeses, pasta in cream sauce or steamed fish.

Laurent Miguel Viognier

A variety with its history in the Rhone Valley of France, this example shows attractive honey, peach and mango fruit aromas on the nose. The palate offers plenty of fresh zippy acidity, with hints of nectarine characters in the back ground of a medium bodied palate. Drinks on its own, with friends over great conversation or with soft cheeses or spicy Asian style dishes.

Spier Chardonnay Pinot Noir Rose

A light bodied rose from the 2 grape varieties grown in the region of Champagne, lovely aromas of white peach with subtle hints of rose petals dominate the nose. The palate has plenty of fresh acidity with flavours of watermelon juice and pomegranates that leave the mouth feeling refreshed and wanting more. Ideal to drink on its own as the weather warms up, or try with fresh seafood or lighter salad dishes.

Reds

Vineyard Friends Cabernet Sauvignon

Attractive aromas of blackberry and blackcurrants can be found on the nose of this medium bodied dry red. Flavours on the mouth include the same, with fine tannins that lead to a dry mouthfeel and a long finish on the back of the palate. Great with red meats, BBQ’s, takeaways, roasted chicken or hard cheeses

Classic Cote Du Rhone Red

From the French wine region of Cote du Rhone, this medium bodied blend of Syrah and Grenache offers plenty of dark redberry fruits on the nose with hints of vanilla from the use of French oak. The palate has juicy, strawberry jam like characters which coat the palate with fine tannins and a smooth finish. Ideal with red meats, duck, roasted chicken, stews and soups.

Boschendal Lanoy Cabernet Merlot

A medium bodied dry red made from 2 of theBordeaux red grape varieties, this is an elegant and interesting red wineblend. Rich blackberry fruit from the Cabernet show on the nose while thepalate is dominated by the Merlot variety, softening the tannins of theCabernet while offering dark plum fruit flavours on the palate.
